Central Park → The greatest thing about Uptown Manhattan is of course Central Park. But there's so much more too, visit Lincoln Center, Apollo Theatre, Columbia University and take in all the sights it has to offer.
Broadway, Broadway → Broadway is the bright beating heart of the NYC’s performing arts scene. No visit to the City is complete without experiencing the rousing entertainment available in Midtown Manhattan’s Theatre District, where dozens of historic venues stage bold new musicals, long-running hits and fascinating dramas every night of the week.
Historic → No NYC neighborhood has greater historical resonance than Lower Manhattan. This is, after all, where the City began—a fact evident in the asymmetrical lanes that were footpaths and canals well before the skyscrapers came.
The Heart of New York City → Living in Manhattan isn't exactly cheap, but it's unparalleled to any other place in the world. The city mostly consists of apartments and town homes.
Thrills, Sun & Surf → Not too far from Manhattan lies the wonderful world of Coney Island, which is the perfect escape. Home to the Cyclone (the legendary wooden roller coaster) and Luna Park amusement park, the New York Aquarium, the original Nathan’s Famous, it's a must-visit on every holiday list.
Diversity → With Jamaican, Caribbean, Pakistani, African-American and Latino communities, Flatbush is one of the City’s most diverse neighborhoods. Known for its busy commercial district, the area also features quaint, quiet streets lined with Victorian mansions—especially in adjacent Ditmas Park—and landmarks like the Flatbush Reformed Church, whose current building was constructed in the late 18th century.
Home of the Hipsters → Though it’s become more refined in recent years, Williamsburg still has a hipster vibe—as evidenced by indie music performances, gallery shows and shops run by local artisans. Distilleries and wineries show off the neighborhood’s flair for locally made spirits, while Smorgasburg packs in creative food vendors along the riverfront on summer Saturdays.
Across the Bridge → Without question, Brooklyn is a lot less expensive than Manhattan. From entertainment to rent, living in Brooklyn is, well, more livable. Although a four-bedroom brownstone in Park Slope is by no means cheap, it is less expensive than a four-bedroom apartment in the Upper West Side.
Everything, Everything → With adventurous art, international cuisine, gorgeous parks and world-class sporting events, Queens features attractions to satisfy nearly every taste.
The Big Fat Greek Community → Astoria has long been known as a Greek neighborhood, and it’s unquestionably a great place to get dishes with calamari, feta and other Mediterranean staples. But there are communities, and culinary options, from the rest of the world, notably the Middle East, India and Brazil.
Sports Central → While lots of people come to Flushing because of Citi Field and USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, it's also home to the Flushing Meadows Corona Park and a large Chinese population!
Rustdorp → Best known as a transportation center connecting parts of NYC to John F. Kennedy International Airport, this enclave contains a patchwork of cultures, including immigrants from India, the Caribbean, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. The local cuisine reflects that heritage, with a collection of international groceries and restaurants along Liberty Avenue.
Cultural Excitement → Queens is a thriving, diverse and cultural borough. It has pockets of many ethnic groups and feels very neighborhood-y in many parts. Don't be fooled into thinking it's "uncool" though — it's anything but that!
Brick City → Despite not being the center of New York, Newark is a pretty important stop. With Newark International Airport, Penn Station and Prudential Center. Settled in 1666 by Puritans from New Haven Colony, Newark is one of the oldest European cities in the United States.
Weekend Getaway → It's not that far from the city, but it's a perfect escape from everything every now and then. Montauk has six state parks and is particularly famous for its fishing!
Get Out While You Can → It's understandable if you need a break from the City That Never Sleeps, and you can do it anywhere in the world. Just pick a place and off you go.
